Online Construction and Contractor Referral Services are designed for one thing.  To help people find someone in the construction industry to do home improvements or build a house for them, that they have minimally screened through an online service.  Any company can be added to their list as long as an online form is completed, and a few positive references are included. That is the extent of their services. They help people find someone in the construction industry that they have gotten online references for. These references could easily come from family and friends, and most cannot be considered credible references at all.  Most of them also charge a fee for placing a company ad on their website, and will place it on the front page and give a high rating to ads that pay a membership fee.  Which makes one wonder.  Are these truly credible sources to find a highly reputable construction professional to do work for you?  They are not designed to help protect your interests throughout the construction of a new house, or new commercial building. They simply scratch the surface when it comes to protecting your interests and do not offer a way to save you money. Once you have chosen someone recommended to do your project, you are completely on your own. These services are primarily for smaller projects.
